You may have seen the 'To Let' sign above the salon, as we're about to move to a much bigger premises. We're not moving far, but a bigger premises means we can offer you so much more!

Sunbeds

There has been a lot of press lately about just how bad for your health sunbeds really are. We have always taken a strong stand against sunbeds, and we hope you're all starting realise just how bad they actually are. Not only are they the main contributing factor of skin ageing, but now it has been proven that they do increase your chances of getting skin cancer. They are just as harmful as asbestos or smoking cigarettes.

Please sign this petition to ban coin operated sunbeds, where young teens and adults can use a sunbed unsupervised as many times as they wish, without any knowledge of the harmful dangers they face.

We also hope the government responds to pressure to raise the legal age to 18 for those using sunbeds. There are so many different fake tans out there that you are sure to find one that suits your skin and that comes within your budget; using a sunbed is just not worth the long term side-effects for a quick fix tan.

Polish of the Month

This month we are loving Leighton Denny's Miss Behavin'. It's a very dark blue, almost black and it keeps cropping up as one of our favourites. Leighton Denny himself has been featured in lots of magazines lately talking of this product. I know it's summer, and this is a dark colour, but it looks good with everything, including a tan! (A fake tan obviously!). Priced at £10, Leighton Denny polishes are longer lasting than your average polish meaning you don't suffer any chips as soon as you've painted them.

Product of the Month

My favourite Dermalogica product is Multivitamin Power Concentrate. With a concentrated dose of Vitamins A, C and E, it not only helps to reverse the signs of ageing and prevent free radical damage, it also leaves your skin so soft! I use a capsule at night and love my skin in the morning! I love the fact that it comes in a capsule so you know exactly how much to use, and I love the tangy, orange smell (although it does remind me slightly of jaffa cakes...)

June 2009 Newsletter

I hope you've all been enjoying the gorgeous weather we've been having, and I hope it returns soon! Remember, 90% of skin ageing is due to UV rays from the sun (even worse effect from sunbeds which have more intense UV power) so please, please wear sunscreen! Dermalogica has a great range of moisturisers with sunscreen designed especially for the face.

On a more exciting note:

I am pleased to announce that The Sharnbrook Hotel, in association with Beauty of Bedford and Starglaze Ltd, will be holding the L'Aquila Earthquake Appeal Ball on Friday 9th October at 7.30pm. Tickets are £35 per person and available in tables of 10. The full £35 will be donated to the fund as will any money raised from the raffle and any donations on the evening. Our target is to raise £12,000 - I hope we can do it!

This month, Beauty of Bedford will be donating £1 from every treatment to the earthquake Appeal. So don't feel guilty when booking your next treatment - it's for charity!

Rooms to Rent

Due to expansion plans, Beauty of Bedford will have beauty rooms to rent as of September. We are looking for professionals who offer treatments that complement our existing menu, but at the same time offer our clients something different. Ideally, we'd like people who can do Reiki, hypnosis, sports massage, accupuncture, reflexology this list could go on - please forward this email to anyone you know who may be interested. Nadia soon to work Mondays

We have been very busy lately and to make it a little easier to get those late night appointments, as of 1st July, Nadia will now be working every Monday. Don't delay, book treatments promptly. With summer coming up, people are tending to have extra treatments, so if you leave it too late, you may be left disappointed when we have no space to fit you in!

While Chromawhite is here to stay, the Risque Leighton Denny Collection is only a limited edition collection, so if you like them, buy them, as I can't order anymore!
